The story of a row by row quilt swap - due to begin february 2006. This blog is for the recording of information, instructions and progress photographs for our row by row quilts - enjoy :)
1. This swap consists of 9 rows, of 40 1/2 inchs long and no higher than 8 inchs high - eg: 5 x 8 inch blocks, 5 x 6 inch blocks with sashing etc but has to be 40 1/2 inchs long. You will have 6 weeks to finish each row.
2. Each row will consist of a different theme/technique
Row 1 - Logcabin (this row will determine the colours you wish to use
in your quilt)
Row 2 - Open
Row 3 - Paper piecing
Row 4 - Baskets
Row 5 - Open
Row 6 - Pieced blocks
Row 7 - trees, leaves flowers ( please stipulate preference in your
notebook)
Row 8 - Applique
Row 9 - Building/bird houses etc.
Each participant can choose their theme and colours by completing the first row themselves, this row is then sent on to the next person on the list, with a note book explaining what colours to use and what theme the finished quilt will be, if you are wanting each row to have a contrasting/matching fabric in it please ensure enough fabric pieces are included for the eight rows, when this row is completed it is sent on to the next person (do not join the rows together)
3 - Start date will be 1st January - you will have 6 weeks from this date to get your first rown made and sent to the next participant on the list.
