Here is the picture of my row by row quilt top. I think some of the middle rows were a little bit smaller, but I think I have managed to "fudge it" OK.

I took this to work to show my friends there and they were all very impressed with the beautiful work everyone has done.

I must say I am too, thank you to everyone who has worked a row for my quilt it will be lovely, and Linda also provided me with a cushion to match her row ( the final one) .

As we were swap partners in the Garden Swap that was her gift to me. She should receive her gift in a couple of days :)

Finally Ted, I have your row finished and almost ready for posting.

When I read that you would like Thimbleberries fabric if possible, I knew I had only one piece of Thimbleberries fabric , Pansy Park. (A border print ) I checked out the colour preferences you had included and thought that this would fit with the fabric. I then went shopping and bought some toning fabrics.

The patterns for the 5 birdhouses were from the Quilter's Cache website BUT they were all 4" blocks - not to worry, I used the Pansy Park fabric and interspersed trees and pansy swags with the birdhouses to give the feeling that the birdhouses were, hidden among the trees. The row feels busy and leafy. You could be forgiven for thinking that a bird will pop into view.

Thank you both so much, aren't I lucky to get two together? And aren't they great? Everything is looking very Christmassy around here, and I am decking the halls with boughs of holly and wishing you a merry little christmas now. okay I'll stop singing now :o) The design wall hangs in my living room so although I wont be able to complete the quilt in time for Christmas I will be able to ebjoy all the rows so far.

I am feeling very smug today, thank you both, thank you all :o)

Farmgirl's Leaves Row

I really enjoyed this row. The leaf design is from Compuquilt BUT the instructions were for making with templates (Who has time for that!!!) Soooo I have drawn up an 8" square and then cut all squares and half square triangles and pieced MOST of the block that way, the large point is paper-pieced (Just the 3 pieces) and then the squares were stitched by the quick piecing method. By doing it that way I found that I was able to cut fabric more efficiently and piece more time efficiently. For me the effect is probably better than if I had cut and pieced using the template patterns.

Including Jane's fabric, I also used 3 reds and a white on white in every block. I wanted the red on white print to make the leaves look as if they are in the process of skeletonising. (That Idea came because I had been thinking about working out in the garden, and I often find skeletonised or partially skeletonised leaves in the front garden.)

Linda, finally finished! Phew! I am pleased with how it turned out although you may wish to adjust the top row slightly, I'll leave it to you as it will depend on the length of the next row you are attaching to it.

Several of my rows are slightly different lengths so I'll be easing them together :o)

Now my next row id for Belle, hmmm, time to put my thinking cap on again.

Finally here is Di's row. The pattern is Carnival from the Quilter's Cache. It is all paper pieced, BUT somehow I seem to have made 2 of the blocks twirl in the opposite direction. Do you want me to redo them Di and post them on later? There were quite a few pieces in each block but the pattern goes really well with the other blocks in Di's row. I chose this pattern because it was exhibition time when I received the Diary to start the row. The dark blue I chose to represent the night sky and the twirling wheels, represent the Ferris wheel and other whirling rides at the show AND the fireworks that are so much a part of the evening entertainmet there.

Finally I have finished the work on Jam-mam's row. (Jammy don't read any further if you want to be surprised when your parcel arrives)I chose to do an Australian Christmas theme with native flowers - (most flowering about Christmas time) for the first and last blocks. Then, a "Carols by Candlelight" block, a surfing Santa block, a decorated Queenslander is the final choice for block 4. In all I used over 30 different Christmas fabrics to 'paint' my blocks. Most of the applique is buttonhole applique, with the exception of the centre block. I have used embroidery, and beads to embellish the blocks just a little. Hope you like it Jacqui.

Here's a photo of the lovely row I received today from Belle, as well as all the great work in pieceing the block Belle has added buttons and even little gifts from the Magi under the manger! I really like this row a LOT and I am beginning to see how my quilt will come together now. Thank you so much Belle, better go plan a row for you now! :o)

Hi all :o)

Here is Hope's row. Magnolia Buds pattern from Quilter's Cache, but I did them in yellows so I hope they look like rose buds too. I saw someone else has used the same pattern so I nearly changed (again) at the last minute, but they were nearly finished so i decided to carry on, they are far from quilting perfection if you look closely, so Hope, don't look too closely :o)

Ronnies Pieced Row 6

Well I was having trouble coming up with things for quilters then I read an article by a quilter whose cat was her "Quilt Inspector". I spent several hours perusing cat blocks before chancing on Ronnies row and finding out she is a dog owner. Luckily I had a great material which jumped immediately to mind as poodle fur. I don't know how well it shows in the pic but it is black on black swirls.

This is Hope's Row 5. The photograph isn't brilliant and doesn't show the true colours. I should have also highlighted the buttons (bees, butterflies and flowers) but forgot!! I'm glad Hope likes it.

Fresh n flowery - blocks are 5 inch with a 2 1/2 inch border. Roses are freehand machine embroidered.

Finished Ted's row, or I will have when I trim the top seam allowance. The seams are a little 'scant' Ted *blush* but I am happy with the houses. I have always really liked Thimbleberries fabrics and patterns so I hope you are pleased with the row too :o) It will be in the post tomorrow morning - sorry about the delay *blushes again*

Belle requested houses and trees for this row. I drafted the patterns for both the cottages and the paper pieced trees myself from a pic that Belle had supplied as a guide.

Belle's row 5 - open choice

For this row Belle asked for figures and hearts. I decided to go with the village theme and have made farmer and Mrs McQUILTY....every village needs a farmer. The hearts I tried to make naive so stitched with contrasting thread and larger stitches. My background fabric is a fine mauve and white stripe.

Linda's Baskets - row 4 - by Sharyn

Linda's basket photo - better late than never. I just loved making this and my local craft group have decided to use the design in our next charity quilt. We will stick with Linda's colours and put them on 12" blocks....should look good.
